Home

After 9 months in a shelter, Rocky is now home!

Western Maine Pet Project, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with a mission to raise money to be used on specific projects and programs to directly and positively affect the comfort, health and happiness of homeless, stray, abused, sick and injured dogs and cats.

While animal shelters and rescues run on donations and grants, and must use most of those funds on the many very necessary day-to-day operational costs and basic care of the animals in their charge, WMPP raises money to assist these organizations in areas beyond the day-to-day overhead expenses; areas that will help make shelter and rescue life easier on the dogs and cats that find themselves in these unfortunate situations.

For those people who donate regularly to their local animal shelter or rescue, THANK YOU, and please continue to do so.  They rely on your generosity to be able to care for the thousands of animals that come through their doors every year.  Utilities, vet bills and salaries must be paid in order for the animals to receive proper care and shelter.

Outside the

 Box...

WMPP, Inc. is a group of animal lovers who want all dogs and cats sitting in area animal shelters and rescues to have everything they need to be as comfortable, happy and healthy as they possibly can be.  We think outside the box to develop projects and programs to accomplish not only this, but to also promote more successful adoptions.  We are a group of people devoted to the welfare of animals.  Everyone of us are associated in some way or another with making the lives of animals better.  We are volunteers with shelters and rescues, veterinary assistants, and we all have adopted pets and know the joy they bring us and what a second chance means to them.

Western Maine Pet Project is proud to announce that we have joined forces with  Responsible Pet Care in Norway to help more cats, find homes, and to help RPC in areas that will make shelter life for their many (over 100) felines a little easier. That being said, RPC should be very proud of the job they already do.  WMPP board members visited RPC and were greeted by an enthusiastic staff, and had the pleasure of meeting many of the felines in their charge.   Join us for the First Annual Comfort & Joy Weekend at and to benefit Responsible Pet Care, December 13th & 14th from 12 to 4 PM each day. Please check out our RPC web page  to learn more about their shelter and ways you can help Responsible Pet Care.
